Our Care and Cleaning Recommendations Our Care and Cleaning Recommendations
These are our basic care procedures:
1.  Have your jewelry inspected and cleaned by a professional jeweler at least once a year.
2.  You should be cleaning it yourself at home at least once a week. We recommend a home cleaning solution of a mild detergent and water. Use a toothbrush—NOT the toothpaste—to scrub up underneath the stones where dirt collects. If your diamond is CLARITY ENHANCED, DO NOT USE AMMONIA! Ammonia and water solution is fine for the other diamonds. If you are unsure about any care feature of any particular piece of jewelry, please ask a knowledgeable jeweler.
3.  If you are very particular about your diamond jewelry, you will want to invest in a new cleaning item called the Jewel Jet steam cleaner. It steams the jewelry clean the same way the jewelry stores do—you just get to steam it at HOME. Check with your jeweler to see which colored stones can be steamed. All diamonds are safe to steam clean.
4.  Ultrasonic cleaners are great for regular cleaning as well. Be sure it is a REAL ultrasonic and not a ‘pretend’ unit. We have never seen a truly useful one for less than about $50. You will still need to rinse and dry the jewelry if you use the ultrasonic unit alone, but you can use both the ultrasonic and the steam cleaner (in that order) to simulate exactly what the professionals do—no additional cleaning or drying needed. (This is only necessary if you haven’t cleaned your jewelry in a long time.)
5.  If you think you have loosened a stone, or hear a rattle coming from your piece, have it checked immediately. Even if you don’t hear anything, but may have hit it hard on something and suspect damage may have been done, get it checked.
6.  Store your diamond jewelry pieces where they are not touching any other jewelry. Diamonds can scratch each other and all the other gemstones.
